About me
I have 15 years experience behind me in software, including managing teams, but I’m ready to make a change and start creating physical objects instead of pushing around bytes and pixels.
Craftsmanship runs in the family. My father was a hobbyist woodworker, and my mother a talented quilter. From their influence I have an almost compulsive attention to detail, and desire that everything I make be of the highest possible quality.
I helped around the shop growing up, and have continued to build throughout my adult life. I’ve renovated my own home including a custom vanity, custom shower tile, and finish carpentry including custom door and window casements. I’ve also built and installed a butcher block counter top with a matching side table for a close family member.
Skills
I’m a self-starter, and learn quickly, but the best way to learn is from experts, so I am seeking opportunities to gain exposure and experience working on larger and more diverse projects.
I am familiar with the operation of power tools used to mill, shape and finish wood.
I have basic metalworking skills including MIG welding and am seeking opportunities to gain experience machining metal to enable tool making and more intricate designs.
I’m mechanically inclined, performing maintenance on my own vehicles, and love finding out how things work. I love an elegant design be it an engineering challenge or a stylish aesthetic.
I’m well organized, communicate well, and I have a strong aptitude for problem solving.
I am very good with computers and continue to dabble in software, though I no longer wish to do it as my vocation.
